We can easily dispose of the second question, it depends who you mean. British, American or European. The Brits bore each other so much barely 1/3 can be bothered to vote. The Americans hate each other so much they do everything they can to ensure the ‘other side’ is disenfranchised and the Euros have got so many parties to vote for they don’t know who they’re electing til it’s too late. (not entirely in jest)

Israel wants to define itself as a ‘Jewish State’ so the question of democracy is moot. It already withholds the franchise from 4 million+ Palestinians over whom it has almost complete control and treats its own Arab citizens as 2nd class – so, not a democracy.

As to Israel’s criminality, there is a report of a recent European parliament delegation to Gaza that call the recent attach by Israel ‘genocide’. I’ve not been able to access the report, only comments by an MEP delegate. But do we need another report. Why not just take a look at the 4th Geneva Convention to which Israel is a signatory.

Following recent attacks on Jews in Jerusalem the homes of the relatives of the Arab attackers were destroyed by Israel. What does 4GC say:

Article 33. No persons may be punished for an offense he or she has not personally committed. Collective penalties and likewise all measures of intimidation or of terrorism are prohibited.
Pillage is prohibited.
Reprisals against persons and their property are prohibited.
