The self-styled ‘Jewish State’ (Israel) holds every Palestinian responsible for the actions of individuals (Cast Lead, Protective Edge, Brothers Keeper; to name the most egregious examples): behaviour which, by the way, is contrary to international law. Whether in war or peace a state is not allowed to conduct reprisals against a community in response to the actions of an individual.
But, while holding Palestinians as a whole accountable, Israel refuses to hold itself accountable for the actions of its many citizens, (‘settlers’), either collectively or individually.
Border Police, military and settlers are immune even from investigation when they attack, injure, kill Palestinians, or destroy their property and livelihood. By contrast, Palestinians are punished, homes are illegally destroyed without the benefit of judicial process. In fact, the term, ‘Double Standards’, seems inadequate.
